Advantages of Opening up the cuticle pocket

"Opening up the cuticle pocket is the first and most important step in any manicure technique:

What is important at this stage?

✔ Gently and neatly open up the pocket to avoid injuries❗

✔ Lack of pressure on the nail plate❗

✔ Focus to make sure your movements are all in the fingers and not the wrist.❗

✔ Check for the presence of glued eponychium. Remove glued cuticle areas (use cuticle remover) ❗

✔ Work only with dead skin tissues also known as the cuticle. Remember, there are capillaries and nerve endings in the skin. This step should not bring discomfort to the client.❗

✔ Remember that in the sinuses we open them to the side direction ❗

✔ Depth. At this stage, you are preparing the cuticle to be cut or to work with an e-file.

Cuticle pockets can be different of different depths and widths this is important to take into account especially when working with an efile.

However when you use cuticle cutters or scissors you should also remember this!

The lifted pocket should “soar” over the nail plate. Otherwise, you will not be able to properly place the blade of the cutting tool under it.❗
